Dear Parents and Guardians of Northern Guilford High School,

As I begin my fourth year here at Northern Guilford High School, I remain deeply honored to serve this community. For those who may not know me: I hold a master’s in Curriculum and Instruction and a Master’s in School Administration through the NC Principal Fellows Program, both from UNCG. My career has included roles as a teacher, assistant principal at Western Guilford High School, and principal of the Doris Henderson Newcomers School. I am a father of five, and I believe strongly that every student deserves a mentor who sees their potential—that belief drives everything I do.

Our Growth: Results That Reflect Our Commitment

Northern Guilford High School has made significant strides over the past two years. Our Performance Grade Score rose from 72 in 2022 to 81 in 2025, and our Academic Growth score of 89.8 earned us “Exceeded” status—a remarkable turnaround after several years of “Not Met.” Our Performance Composite climbed from 62.9 to 69.0, with strong gains in Biology (60.4%), English 2 (71.5%), and HS Math 3 (85.5%). Schoolwide, over 63% of 11th graders met the ACT benchmark, and our four-year graduation rate exceeds 95%. These results reflect the hard work of our students, staff, and families.

Our Commitment: Every Student, Post-Secondary Ready

While we celebrate this growth, achievement gaps remain for several student subgroups, and closing them is our focus. We will continue implementing rigorous classroom instruction, targeted interventions, and college and career counseling to ensure every Northern Guilford student—regardless of background or circumstance—graduates prepared for their next step, whether that is a university, community college, career certification, or the workforce. Together, I am confident the best days at Northern High are still ahead.
